Public and private partners in an affordable housing development in Yonkers recently joined in the ceremonial opening of 330 Riverdale, a 137-apartment, $54.4 million project on the city”™s southwest side.
Built for working families by L+M Development Partners Inc. in Larchmont, 330 Riverdale is a 12-story tower with studio and one-, two- and three-bedroom units and more than 200 parking spaces. Individuals and families with incomes no higher than 60 percent of the Westchester County area median income for households are eligible tenants. Twenty percent of the units will be set aside for those earning no more than 50 percent of the area median income.
L+M dedicated space in the building”™s community room as a business center to provide residents with wireless computer and library resources for job training and education. Space will also be set aside for one-on-one job training sessions with representatives from local employers.
Partnering with L+M and the city of Yonkers to finance the project were the Yonkers Industrial Development Agency; the Westchester County Planning Department; the state Housing Finance Agency, an affiliate of the state Homes and Community Renewal agency; Community Development Banking and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Ron Moelis, co-founder and CEO of L+M Development Partners, in a statement said project financing closed in December 2008, “during what was perhaps the lowest point of the recession, yet our close collaboration with the city of Yonkers, the county, the state and our investment partners still allowed for the successful creation of high-quality, affordable living opportunities for local families in need and has further helped to stimulate economic growth downtown.”
Residents are scheduled to begin moving into 330 Riverdale later this summer.
The Riverdale project is the first of multiple investments planned in Yonkers by L+M Development Partners. The affordable housing developer in April joined its public and private partners in another groundbreaking at 49 N. Broadway, a 92-unit development near Getty Square that will be ready for occupancy in late 2012 or early 2013.
