For the third consecutive year, the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties named Westchester County as one of the top 10 digital counties in the U.S., County Executive Robert P. Astorino recently announced.
Westchester County ranked ninth in the country in the Center for Digital Government and National Association of Counties’ joint 2015 Digital Counties Survey, which considered citizen engagement, policy, operations and technology and data.
The Center for Digital Government is a national research institute focusing on technology policies in state and local government, and the National Association of Counties represents county governments in the U.S. through committees and state associations.
Astorino said it was the tenth time Westchester has been named to the list since 2005.
“I am proud Westchester County continues to be recognized for leveraging technology to deliver efficient and effective services to all of our residents,” Astorino said. “The results delivered by our technology team go a long way toward saving taxpayer money at every level of local government and they deserve our thanks.”
Over the past year, Westchester has redesigned the county website, westchestergov.com, to make it more mobile friendly. The county has also launched Homeseeker, a resource to buy and sell affordable housing.
In its report, The Center for Digital Government also cited REACH Westchester, an automated application system for re-certification; the Westchester Telecom Network, a fiber-based business network; a number of shared services provided by the county Department of Information Technology; and the Criminal Justice Data Warehouse, an investigative tool allowing law enforcement to track suspects.
