Westchester County Legislator Lyndon Williams, a Mount Vernon Democrat, will host a Town Hall Meeting on the Affordable Care Act to answer questions about the new health care policy and changes in health insurance.
The panel discussion on the new health care law, also known as Obamacare, will take place at the Mount Vernon campus of Montefiore Medical Center on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
“Many Westchester residents have important questions and concerns regarding the Affordable Care Act and the health insurance needs, so this event is meant to provide answers and reassurances,” said Williams in a written statement.
Kelvin S. Sapp, a representative of the New York State Department of Health will lead the meeting, which is sponsored by Montefiore Hospital based in the Bronx, the Department of Health and Mount Vernon National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Meanwhile, state Assemblywoman Sandy Galef plans to host a health care forum for individuals and small businesses at Croton Village Hall Feb. 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Panelists will include John Ravitz from the Business Council of Westchester, Danielle Holahan from the New York State Department of Health and Michael Reisman from the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
“This is an opportunity for my constituents and small businesses to make sure they are in compliance with the federal law by the end of March 31, which is the deadline to sign up for health insurance,” Galef said in a written statement.
I wonder if they are going to cover the dangers of enrolling in Medicaid when you think you are getting health insurance. Medicaid will allow the states to put a lien on your estate. NY doesn’t do this yet, but 29 states will go after adult children to recover Medicaid money spent on their parents.
