Gov. Ned Lamont withdrew proposed regulations designed to prohibit the sale of new gas-powered vehicles in Connecticut by 2035.
CTNewsJunkie.com reported Lamont’s action came the night before the proposals were to be voted on by the state legislature’s bipartisan Regulation Review Committee. The Republican members of the committee and two Democrats – Sens. Cathy Osten and Joan Hartley – were not supportive of the proposals, which were opposed by fuel sellers and the representatives of the trucking industry.
“However, the battle may not be over,” said Chris Herb, president and CEO of the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association (CEMA). “It’s unclear what could happen next, but CEMA will continue to be vigilant in our opposition to this reckless policy. This is too much too fast, and we are not ready for an EV-only future.”
