Aimee J. Vargas, who previously oversaw regional economic development affairs in the Hudson Valley for Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo”™s administration, has been appointed as director of downstate intergovernmental affairs.
In addition to overseeing the Hudson Valley, Vargas also will have New York City and Long Island in her purview, according to a statement announcing the appointment. Vargas was previously mid-Hudson regional director of Empire State Development and executive director of the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council. Meghan Taylor was named as Vargas’ successor in those roles in February.
Vargas also will continue to serve on the governor”™s Tappan Zee Bridge community outreach team.
Aimee Vargas who created a hostile work environment for staff, did nothing to help promote the Hudson Valley ends up finally getting booted out of her ESD position and get’s this gig. Why? What exactly are her qualifications? Meanwhile, ESD regional reps if you are lucky last about 2 years approx. till the next regime comes in, or a big donor tells Cuomo who he wants in that position.
