In the realm of ethnic cuisine, eateries offering the cuisine of the Philippines are not as ubiquitous as other culinary heritages. However, a new Philippines-inspired cafe had its grand opening this past weekend in Westchester.
Likha Art Cafe at 363 Elwood Ave. in Hawthorne had a soft opening in July and an official debut ceremony on Saturday. The new eatery serves coffee and Filipino-inspired pastries including mini ube flan cakes, pan de coco, ube pandesal with cheese, and mini sans rival dessert cakes.
In addition to the food and coffee, Likha Art Cafe also presents original Philippines-inspired artwork for admiration and purchase. In an online statement, the owners of the new business declared, “At Likha, we believe in the power of art to inspire, connect, and transform lives. Our unique establishment combines the love of art and the joy of savoring delicious coffee, bread, pastries and more.”
