The McDonald”™s (NYSE:MCD) at an I-95 rest stop in Darien has become the center of social media attention for sticking excessively high prices on its fast food.
The New York Post reported that Twitter user Sam Learner shared photos online of the posted prices for meals at Darien McDonald”™s ”“ including $17.59 for a Big Mac combo meal, $19 for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Bacon meal and a Quarter Pounder Deluxe, $18 for a McCrispy sandwich, $18.29 for a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, $16.59 for a Filet-O-Fish sandwich and $17 for a pair of cheeseburgers.
“This was at a rest stop, but these McDonald”™s prices are nuts right???” tweeted Learner, whose posting has already generated more than 311,000 views. While many of the responses to Learner”™s tweet pointed out that rest stop menu prices are often higher than the prices in neighborhood eateries, the Twitter user “Nobody”™s Fool” wisely observed: “This is a rest stop in Darien CT, arguably the richest town in the country. Yes McD”™s is expensive there, so is everything else.”
