Stew Leonard”™s has partnered with Brookfield-based Vroom Service Now for meal deliveries from the grocery chain”™s Danbury store.
Stew Leonard”™s menu on Vroom Service Now features more than 60 hot and prepared foods for delivery starting at 9 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. Delivery fees start at $3.99. The service is available for residents in Bethel, Brookfield, Bridgewater, Danbury, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sandy Hook.
Jake Tavello, store director of Stew Leonard”™s in Danbury and grandson of founder Stew Leonard Sr., told the Business Journal that the new service is a return to the company’s roots. “My grandfather started as a dairyman doing deliveries,” he said. “In 1969, we went to being a 100 percent retail operation. Now, almost 50 years later, the pendulum swung back the other way.”
Tavello added that while the company is exploring “the potential to expand the service in the future,” there are no plans to introduce a meal delivery service to the other Stew Leonard’s stores this year.
Founded in 1969, Stew Leonard’s has stores in Norwalk, Danbury, and Newington, Connecticut, and in Yonkers and Farmingdale, New York. A sixth store is set to open in East Meadow, Long Island.
