Restaurateur Peter Herrero will open a pop-up barbecue restaurant in White Plains next month. The Great American BBQ Co., Herrero’s catering business, will operate next door to his restaurant Sam’s of Gedney Way from Nov. 1 through Nov. 31 for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
“For many years, our BBQ clients always asked us when we are going to open up a BBQ restaurant,” Herrero said. “We’ve been searching for a suitable site, then the lightbulb went off.”
Herrero said he will decide whether to reopen the pop-up business as a seasonal restaurant from May through November next year after his trial run. David Pellon, director of catering, said the restaurant will be decorated with an upscale BBQ motif, and all the barbecue will be rubbed, smoked and slow roasted on site.
Among the items on the specialty menu are a potato and corn chowder, chili bowl, barbecue chopped table salad and braised beef brisket.
