A White Plains restaurant that tried to crowdfund its way out of financial struggles has shut down.
19 Court Artisan Foods at 19 Court St. created a GoFundMe campaign to raise $75,000 by May 28. The restaurant, which opened last September by the married couple Rahsaan and Shelly White, described itself as being part of “the slow food movement, carefully preparing our dishes using only fresh, farm-to-table ingredients.”
However, the GoFundMe campaign only raised $1,665. Shelly White announced the restaurant”™s closing in an email to her customers, offering the optimistic sign-off. “This is not goodbye; this is see you soon.”
