The co-founders of Zaniac, an after-school STEM education franchise, held the grand opening of their new Westport campus this week.
Zaniac is a national STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning franchise based in Utah. Camilla Gazal and Flavia Naslausky opened Zaniac”™s first Northeast campus in Greenwich in 2013.
In July, they announced plans to open 10 more locations in the New York metro area over the next five years. The Westport location is on 1391 Post Road E. They are also opening a campus on Manhattan”™s Upper East Side on Sept. 1.
Some of Zaniac”™s programs include robotics, Minecraft, 3D printing, app creation and computer programming.
Gazal said the new campus builds on the success she and Naslausky have experienced with their Greenwich school. A number of the students that attended their Greenwich campus lived in the Westport area, she said.
State and town officials attended the grand opening, commending Zaniac”™s presence in the community.
“Creative, innovative and highly skilled science students are essential in meeting the demands of our increasing technologically advanced civilization,” said Sen. Toni Boucher.
