Xerox Corp. has named Ashok Vemuri CEO of its business process outsourcing (BPO) unit effective July 1. Vemuri is the former president and CEO of IGATE Corp., an IT services company in Bridgewater, N.J.; he oversaw its sale to French rival Cap Gemini SA for $4 billion in 2015, in the process becoming group management board member at the latter.
Earlier this year, Xerox announced plans to split its legacy printer operations and its BPO units into two companies. The company, which is headquartered in Norwalk, has not named a chief for its printer business; current company chairman/CEO Ursula Burns will become chairman of that company when the transaction is completed by the end of this year.
“I’m excited to join Xerox at this stage of its new path forward.” Vemuri said. “Xerox’s BPO business is already in several attractive markets and has an impressive client list that includes top global brands and vital government agencies. The standalone BPO operation will have many new opportunities, leveraging its differentiated capabilities and executing a more focused value-creation strategy for the benefit of clients, employees and shareholders.”
“Ashok’s deep industry experience and proven track record of leading growth and corporate transformations will be instrumental for the BPO company’s future success,” said Burns. “He’s an excellent leader with the right combination of operational, financial and client experience to successfully drive our BPO company’s go-forward strategy. I look forward to working with Ashok to successfully launch the new BPO company and build on its position as an industry leader.”
Xerox’s BPO operations currently generate about $7 billion in annual revenue.
