DANBURY – It’s all about girl power at Luv Ink, which just celebrated its 10th year.
“Us girls have to stick together,” said Sarra Yandow, owner of the all-female tattoo and piercing shop in Danbury. “In an industry that’s often been male-dominated, we’ve built a space that feels safe, nurturing, and inspiring — where women can express themselves freely, support one another, and redefine what it means to be powerful.”
The 175 Triangle St. studio has a team of five women, including Yandow’s daughter, Sarae Zinnah, a tattoo artist and piercer. The anniversary represents resilience, independence, and the power of love, community, and perseverance, according to Yandow.
“We bring a level of care, artistry, and emotional connection that’s rare,” Yandow said. “We celebrate our clients and we treat every tattoo and piercing as a collaboration. Between the raw talent of our team, our genuine connection with people, and our willingness to show up authentically, that’s what’s kept Luv Ink strong for 10 years.”
While Yandow is not a tattoo artist, she appreciates how tattoos represent self-expression, courage, and individuality. She started out as a real estate agent for Great Estates Realty and got her license in 2003.
“My daughter, Sarae, does all my tattoos,” she said. “I choose her because getting a tattoo is way more than just getting input on your skin.”
“My body is a full piece of living art,” she said. “All of my tattoos reflect a different chapter of who I was, what I needed, and what I was becoming. Tattoos capture your story, your strength, and your evolution all in one beautiful, imperfect masterpiece.”
After finding success the first five years, Yandow experienced challenges, but kept moving forward. Her ex-husband, a tattoo artist, went out on his own, then Covid hit, she said. She credits her daughter to that success.
“Her strength, loyalty, and incredible work ethic inspired me to keep going even when things felt impossible,” Sarra Yandow said. “This business survived because we refused to give up on it or on each other.”
Zinnah is equally proud of her mother’s success.
“Watching her run her own woman-owned business and succeed with so much strength is an inspiration. She’s shown me what it means to work hard, stay true to yourself, and build something meaningful,” said Zinnah.
The inspiration for the studio came from Yandow wanting to build something meaningful for her family.
The studio’s tagline is: Where fierce meets finesse. “It captures the heart of who we are. Fierce represents the boldness, confidence, and courage it takes to express yourself through body art — to wear your story unapologetically. Finesse represents the artistry, precision, and care that go into every piece we create, from tattoos to piercings to the overall experience,” said Yandow. “It’s that balance of power and grace, edge and elegance; the energy of women who know their worth, own their beauty, and uplift each other.”
At its beginning, Luv Ink was named by 12-year-old Zinnah.
“Everything we do comes from love: love for art, for people, and for authenticity,” said Yandow who hopes to open a Luv Ink in Manhattan and grow to other locations worldwide.
“No matter where we go, we’ll remain an all-women studio. That’s our brand and our heartbeat. The energy of women supporting women — creating, thriving, and standing in their power — is what makes Luv Ink so special.”
