At a special reception recently, Friends of Nathaniel Witherell presented the town of Greenwich, which owns the Nathaniel Witherell Short-Term and Skilled Nursing Center on Parsonage Road, with a $1.75 million check and announced that $9.8 million has been raised to date from multiple sources for “Project Renew” to modernize and refurbish The Nathaniel Witherell.
Completion of “Project Renew” is scheduled for September, with total construction costs projected at $26 million.
When complete, the project will increase the number of private rooms from 26 to 64, eliminate 10 four-bedded rooms and remodel and redecorate 86 resident rooms. Plans call for doubling the size of the rehab center, increasing the number of family reception areas, modernizing three existing elevators and adding a fourth elevator and new emergency generator, along with communications upgrades.
