Danbury-based ATMI has introduced a new anti-static film that triples shelf life for semiperishable goods from one year to three and which possesses life-sciences potential.
ATMI which specialty semiconductor materials and solutions, has expanded its line of Newsafe contained Powder Transfer Bags with the introduction of bags fabricated with a new anti-static polymer film that increases the number of bioprocessing applications through its significantly extended shelf-life.
“Companies can capitalize on this unique combination of benefits in a greater number of instances,” said Richard Bhella, global product manager for single-use storage and delivery technologies at ATMI LifeSciences. “The shelf life increases the container’s usefulness for long-term storage or shipping. Customers can even purchase and store powders that are delivered in pre-measured amounts, which facilitates quick, clean, and less expensive addition of critical powders to their processes.”
Bhella said the new powder transfer system triples shelf life to 36 months, compared to just 12 months for other anti-static powder transfer vessels currently available.
“Like all single-use technologies from ATMI LifeSciences, Newsafe PSD products improve process efficiency by lowering the number of cleaning and validation steps, reducing process downtime, and eliminating potential sources of cross-contamination between batches,” said Bhella.
According to Bhella the film technology was developed by ATMI LifeSciences, which specializes in ultra-clean polymer films, single-use mixing systems, single-use bioreactors, delivery systems, and ultraclean single-use bioprocess vessels for the biopharma and bioprocessing industries.
Bhella said Newsafe contained Powder Transfer Bags are available immediately through ATMI LifeSciences and its distribution channels.
