Stephen J. Tyliszczak, development administrator with Bridgeport Landing Development, the developers of Steelpointe harbor, the 2-million-square-foot retail, commercial and residential project being built along the Bridgeport zaterfront, will receive the Jayne Kuchma Leadership Greater Bridgeport Alumni Award tomorrow at the Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull.
The award recognizes Tyliszczak, a Bridgeport native, for his civic engagement and his work supporting the development of the city over his 30-year career in nonprofit, government, and private sectors.
According to Leadership Greater Bridgeport (LGB), a program of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, Tyliszczak has been involved in major infrastructure, transportation, and development projects including assisting in the development of 150,000 square feet of new construction including Bass Pro Shops, Starbucks, Chipotle, and T-Mobile under the Steelpointe project.
“He has been involved in the creation of project plans, grants writing, and grants management, and has overseen the construction of major capital projects including the Park Avenue Gateway to the Sound, Burroughs Community Center, Ballpark at Harbor Yard, Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport Intermodal Transportation Center Transit Garage, Greater Bridgeport Transit Bus Terminal, Seaview Avenue Transitway, East Bridgeport Development Corridor, P.T. Barnum / East Bridgeport Train Station, and the Steelpointe TIGER II Infrastructure Improvements Project,” according to LGB.
As a project manager with the City of Bridgeport Office of Planning & Economic Development, he worked with state and federal departments as well as local contractors and developers to oversee $125 million of construction activity.
Tyliszczak currently sits on the Boards of Directors of the P.T. Barnum Museum Foundation and the Burroughs Community Center.
“Steve exemplifies the spirit of this award,” said Laura Campbell, executive director of LGB. “Not only does he have an extraordinary professional record of accomplishment; he consistently gives back without question.”
The award ceremony will be held at 7 p.m.
