Darien resident Kevin Coupe and his partner Michael Sansolo have launched their new food perspective Web site and the first episode of their online series on FoodWireTV.com.
The Web site is the basis for a television style podcast that”™s interested in the way people learn about what they eat and about new food products in the market.
“It was sort of a long health contention of mine that the retailers were not doing a good job of educating their consumers,” said Coupe.
The site offers a podcast and Web log in which advice, products and techniques are discussed.
“One of the things that we”™re going to focus a lot on is dieting and health without hitting people over the head about it,” said Coupe. “We want to give people a resource. There are so many issues like lactose and food allergies. There are so many questions out there about health and nutrition.”
Coupe has been a journalist for 20 years and is also the writer and founder of MorningNewsBeat.com, an online food-related business site that has more than 20,000 subscribers.
“I”™ve been writing with the industry for about 20 years,” said Coupe. “I kept saying to my readers that the time had passed where information could not be given with their products.”
Coupe does not deny that there are retailers out there that do a good job; he simply would like to help his audience find the right products.
“For younger consumers as they move into the mainstream they”™re going to expect this kind of information,” said Coupe.
FoodWireTV launched its pilot program and podcast with Amazon.com in mid-May.
“Online media is a different sort of animal in that it”™s not one directional,” said Coupe. “They”™re talking back to me offering questions and criticisms. You create a sense of community with the people that you”™re talking to. You can get an awful lot of feedback. I”™ll probably be beaming to people”™s offices via hologram before I”™m done.”
Coupe says that Amazon is a vehicle for people to be directed to the Web page.
The site and Web casts are also sponsored by the Kellogg Company.
