Texas Gov. Rick Perry will travel to the tristate region next week to pitch Connecticut and New York businesses on the Lone Star State, with a $1 million television ad campaign launching earlier this week in advance of the trip.
Perry plans to meet with business leaders in the firearm, pharmaceutical and financial services industries, according to a statement from the Texas governor’s office. The trip, which is scheduled for June 16 to 20, and the week-long ad buy, which began June 10 with two 30-second TV spots, are both being paid for by the organization TexasOne.
TexasOne is a public-private organization aimed at marketing Texas to businesses. According to Perry’s office, no tax dollars will be used for either the trip or the ad buy.
While no itinerary was released, Perry’s office said the governor will host receptions in both New York and Connecticut.
