Office Depot Inc. is shuttering its Tech Depot operation in Trumbull that sells high-tech goods to businesses, at a cost of nearly 170 jobs.
Boca Raton, Fla.-based Office Depot acquired the facility in its 2001 purchase of 4Sure.com, which was started in 1994.
In its first three fiscal quarters of 2009, Office Depot lost $550 million with revenue down 19 percent from a year earlier to $9.1 billion. The company has been closing stores it deems underperforming, including the closure earlier this year of a store in Stratford.
The Trumbull facility is expected to close in February. The number of layoffs was placed at 168.
