After 66 years of operating as a successful appliance store in Stratford, Mudrick’s TV and Appliances has closed its doors.
“It”™s time to move on,” declared 76-year-old Jack Mudrick, who took over the store in 1965 from his father, John, who founded the 21,169-square-foot store at 1480 Barnum Ave. in 1949. “I”™ve been doing this for a long, long time, and I want to move to Florida. I”™m also selling my home here.”
Always family-run, the business employed as many as 20 people, including Jack”™s children, Johnny, Dawn, and Amy.
Mudrick’s TV and Appliances was an authorized dealer of such brands as Amana, Bosch, Frigidaire, GE Appliances, and KitchenAid.
Mudrick emphasized that the building ”“ not the business ”“ is currently available for sale at a below-market rate. “The seller is extremely motivated,” noted Les Fradkoff, the listing broker and senior vice president at Angel Commercial LLC, based in Fairfield.
“We”™ve had some inquiries, but nothing positive yet,” Mudrick remarked.
