Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Monday a $159 million investment into planning and developing more affordable housing.
The funding is a part of Malloy’s plan to invest $500 million in affordable housing over the next 10 years. With the latest round of funding, about $360 million has been allocated so far for seniors, young professionals, families and other residents.
“With more affordable housing options we can attract talent, grow our economy, and strengthen commerce,” Malloy said in a press release. “Today”™s announcement builds on our commitment to ensure affordable housing in Connecticut.”
Seven programs within the Department of Housing and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority will split the $159 million investment. Several projects include ownership and development opportunities.
Last spring Malloy also announced about $7.5 million in tax credits  to build 347 affordable housing units and proposed about $13.8 million for 11 neighborhood revitalization programs.
