Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. announced plans to open two hotel complexes in Manila Dec. 12, marking the Stamford-based hotel giant’s entry into the Philippines.
With more than 230 hotels already operating in southeast Asia, Starwood said it aims to have 400 hotels in the region by 2016.
The Westin Manila Bayshore is scheduled to open in mid-2016, while The Sheraton Manila Hotel is scheduled to open in early 2017, Starwood said in a press release.
The new hotels will be components of the Resorts World Bayshore and Resorts World Manila mixed-use developments, which are owned by Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. and which also include entertainment venues, luxury retail and gaming.
