Stamford Health partners with HSS Orthopedics to establish Multidisciplinary Spine Center
According to the Centers for Disease Control more than 65 million Americans suffer from backpain. Numerous medical conditions ranging from arthritis and nervous system issues to muscle strain or osteoporosis can play a role in back pain.
To address the problem the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) has collaborated with Stamford Health to establish the HSS Spine Center. The facility draws on HSS’s long history of orthopedic treatment and Stamford Health’s medical expertise and community connections.
“Improved care options for neck and spine conditions is one of the fastest-growing needs we see among patients of all ages today,” said HSS spine surgeon Harvinder S. Sandhu, MD, MBA, and Stamford Hospital Orthopedic Department Chair. “This program integrates our personalized approach to diagnosing and developing treatment plans to help us achieve the best possible patient outcomes.”
The facility treats patients 12 years and older, with virtual visits available for those 18 and up. The facility prides itself on being able to handle many conditions non-surgically while having the full capability to handle complex and life-changing operations.
