Rubenstein Partners, the new owner of 600 Washington Blvd. in Stamford, will not be rehiring the approximately 35 cafeteria workers it laid off last month, choosing instead to outsource those jobs to Fooda, a Chicago-based food services company.
Fooda replaces Manhattan”™s Restaurant Associates, whose employees had worked at the building ”“ whose tenants include Royal Bank of Scotland, UBS, Bank of America and Citizens Bank ”“ until being terminated on May 31, when RA’s contract ran out.
Rubenstein bought the 12-story, approximately 450,000-square-foot office building for $163 million in June.
Rather than bring in its own workers, Fooda subcontracts to local restaurants to provide meals for those working in buildings it services.
