Revenue was up at Frontier Communications, but so were losses, for the second quarter.
The Norwalk company reported a net loss of $80 million or $0.07 per share for the quarter, compared to a loss of $28 million or $0.03 per share in the year-ago quarter.
Revenue for the quarter came in at $2.61 billion, compared with $1.37 billion in the year-ago quarter. Frontier”™s numbers included the April acquisition of Verizon customers in California, Texas and Florida for $10.54 billion; $1.28 billion of second quarter revenue came from Verizon operations. Operating income of $311 million was up from $193 million last year.
As of June 30, Frontier had 5.2 million residential customers and 528,000 business customers, up from 3.2 million and 299,000 a year ago, respectively. The company has 4.6 million broadband subscribers, up from 2.4 million, and 1.6 million video subscribers, up from 569,000.
