Norwalk-based Priceline.com Inc. bested IBM Corp. on the InformationWeek 500 list of information technology innovators, ranking 41st overall and second in Connecticut after Bloomfield-based Cigna Corp., which ranked seventh.
Boston”™s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center topped the list, followed by Moline, Ill.-based Deere & Co. and Zynga Inc., a social media gaming company in San Francisco. Among information technology vendors, Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM ranked third.
With a few exceptions, InformationWeek opens the list to companies with at least $250 million in revenue; and ranks them according to their IT spending, innovative new approaches and other qualitative and quantitative factors based on surveys.
Of Northeast IT companies surveyed by InformationWeek, nearly two-thirds expect IT spending to increase this year.
