Priceline founder Jay Walker will soon be advising government officials on how to use technology to promote economic growth under the lead of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
Walker announced Tuesday he has joined the academy’s Board on Science, Technology and Economic Policy to help further the organization’s mission to promote technical knowledge through economic and public policy.
“Innovation plays an integral role in America”™s economic vitality, and, as an entrepreneur and inventor concerned about our nation”™s economic future, I have a stake in seeing that the U.S. remains at the forefront of science and technology,” Walker said in a written statement.
Though best known for founding Norwalk-based Priceline.com, Walker stands as the world’s 11th most patented inventor and is named on 450 issued and pending patents. His research and development lab, Patent Properties Inc. is based in Stamford.
