NORWALK – The former Governor Bissell House at 1 Park St. has been listed for sale by Cushman & Wakefield for $2.5 million. Currently, the building houses the Norwalk Public School Family Center and the Human Services Council of Norwalk.
Named after the state’s 34th Gov. Clark Bissell who lived there in the 1800s, the restored office property underwent a substantial expansion in 1987. It sits on 0.64 acres and totals 20,648 square feet.
The Family Center is expected to vacate the building in the first quarter of 2026. The Human Services Council of Norwalk prefers to continue occupying 3,000 square feet of space if the new owner permits, according to Cushman & Wakefield. As a result, 1 Park Street can be delivered substantially or entirely vacant at the purchaser’s option.
The building is adjacent to the Norwalk Town Green, which is just south of Route 1 and a multitude of retail, dining and services with destination retailers including Stew Leonard’s, Starbucks, Whole Foods, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot and Costco.
The site is also accessible to major Fairfield County employers, public transportation and key commuter routes and is located just 2 minutes from I-95 (Exit 16), 3 minutes from the Route 7 Connector (Exit 1)/the Merritt Parkway, and within 5 minutes of both the East Norwalk and South Norwalk Metro-North train stations.
