The Norwalk Seaport Association recently announced the main stage headline entertainment for this year’s Oyster Festival to be held Sept. 5-7.
Joan Jett, an American rock musician known for her work on the song “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” will be showcased along with the U.S. Army volunteer band and dozens of local and regional musicians.
New this year, the Nerveless Nocks Thrill Show aerial artists will perform motorcycle stunts. A 65-foot Gondola Ferris Wheel and Kid’s Cove, which includes a circus tent featuring Chinese acrobats and a poodle show, will make their debut. Popular attractions from the past will be coming back this year, including an oyster slurping contest.
The Norwalk Seaport Association, a nonprofit organization focused on bringing awareness to Norwalk’s maritime environment, also owns and maintains the Sheffield Lighthouse through its volunteers.
The organization offers harbor cruises, education programs and habitat restoration projects.
