Durata Therapeutics Inc. is leasing nearly 18,000 square feet of space in Branford for research, clinical and regulatory functions.
Morristown, N.J.-based Durata is fresh off a July initial public offering of stock that netted it $74 million, as it progresses with Phase III clinical trials for its lead drug candidate to treat patients with acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections. The company is in the process of moving corporate functions to Chicago.
Durata did not state whether it has received incentives from Connecticut to establish the Branford location. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has been promoting a “BioScience Connecticut” initiative to spur life sciences jobs here.
