A new data study by Rare Carat ”“ an online diamond marketplace, found New York is the most expensive state for purchasing a diamond ring ”“ the average cost in the state is $11,434. Connecticut ranked fourth among the states in this study, with the average diamond ring costing $9,744.
For diamond lovers seeking to save money, South Dakota ranked lowest among the states with an average of $4,923 for a diamond ring.
As for the rings, round was the most popular shape (40%) among shoppers followed by cushion and oval (15%). The most common size is 1 to 1.09 Carat (15.8%) followed by 2 to 2.09 Carat (10.7%), while the most common color and clarity are G and VS2, respectively.
