Stamford-based Course Technology said it has helped develop “ethical hacker” certification for computer network defense service providers.
The “Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures Series” covers topics in offensive network security, ethical hacking, and network defense and countermeasures.
Course Technology is part of Cengage Learning, which provides computing and IT courseware.
“Academic programs nationwide are recognizing that training for these certifications is important to adequately prepare students for the demands of information security employers,” said Dave Garza, vice president of the career and professional business unit at Cengage Learning.
Developed in partnership with EC-Council, which specializes in information security and electronic business education, training and certification, the series prepares IT students to become certified ethical hackers.
“We are fully-equipped to prepare students for careers in information security and network defense,” said Garza.
Jay Bavisi, co-founder and president of EC-Council in Albuquerque, N.M., said these types of training programs are vital in recognizing and preventing dangerous security breaches for businesses and government.
“Through our partnership with Course Technology, we are preparing information security students and professionals to understand how hackers think, and educating them on the different cyber weapons hackers have at their disposal,” he said.
