Sen. Chris Murphy recently announced plans to launch an advisory group to promote manufacturers and to work with members of Congress on regulatory and legal changes that would be beneficial to the industry.
The group, which will make legislative recommendations to Congress starting later this year 2013, will be tasked with suggesting bipartisan solutions to issues related to labor and employment law, exporting, energy costs, education and diversity in the workplace.
Murphy, a Democrat, said he hopes the group will be able to provide common-sense solutions to help overcome the gridlock in Congress.
The compact will include small manufacturers, environmental and labor groups and workforce investment boards, as well as members of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).
