Gov. Dannel P. Malloy appointed Terry Edelstein of South Glastonbury to serve as nonprofit liaison to the governor, a cabinet-level position that serves as a state advocate for nonprofit community providers.
For the past 30 years, Edelstein has been CEO of the Connecticut Community Providers Association, a trade association that represents organizations providing services and support for people with disabilities and significant challenges, including children and adults with mental illness, developmental disabilities or physical disabilities.
“Nonprofit community-based providers in Connecticut provide vital services to so many residents and are an important partner in supporting the state”™s safety net,” Malloy said, in a prepared statement. “Terry Edelstein has dedicated her career to tirelessly advocating on behalf of nonprofits and she has had a lasting, positive impact on human services in our state. Her vast experience and knowledge of the nonprofit community will be a key resource in the state”™s efforts to strengthen these services.”
Edelstein holds a masters in public health from Yale University and an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College in Ohio.
