A federal judge accepted a $635 million settlement by Purdue Pharma L.P. for misleading patients about its OxyContin pain-relief drug.
Originally reached in May, the criminal settlement includes $35 million in fines on retired President Michael Friedman; Howard Udell, general counsel; and Paul Goldenheim, Purdue”™s former chief medical officer.
The men avoided jail terms, but received three years of probation and must complete 400 hours of community service related to preventing prescription drug abuse.
