WBDC in new quarters
The Women’s Business Development Council has moved its headquarters to 184 Bedford St. in Stamford. The council made the move in order to expand its programs and services. It also maintains satellite offices in Shelton and Waterbury and training sites in Darien, Norwalk, Bridgeport, Fairfield and New Haven.
The council welcomed more than 150 guests including Gov. Dannel Malloy, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and U.S. Rep. Jim Himes to an open house celebrating the new location.
Hot dogs on a roll
Jr”™s Hot Dog Stand, the longstanding eatery on Riverside Avenue, has taken to the streets in a newly outfitted mobile hot dog truck. Owner Jeff Arciola will use the social media site Twitter to tell customers where the traveling food stand will be located throughout the day.
The four-wheeled kitchen with its unique paint scheme will be available for parties and functions.
Prevail inks deal
New Canaan-based Prevail Consulting, an insurance industry consulting and technology services provider, has signed a contract deal with Triple-S Propiedad Inc. based in Caparra Heights, Puerto Rico.
The deal will license Prevail”™s Reinsurance system to support Triple-S operations. The system automates management of reinsurance data for insurance and reinsurance companies. Triple-S Propiedad provides property and casualty insurance products and services.
Blyth spins off unit
Greenwich-based Blyth Inc. has signed an agreement to sell Midwest-CBK, its wholesale seasonal decorations and home decor business, to MVP Group International.
After announcing the deal Blyth stock rose $2 to $34.85.
The sale from Blyth, a fragrance and decorative accessories manufacturer, to MVP, manufacturer of candles and home fragrance products, is expected to close by the end May. The amount of the sale was not disclosed. Blyth”™s said the decision to sell Midwest-CBK, was made because the brand”™s direct-to-consumer model was not a strategic fit for the future of Blyth.
Vt. foods on your doorstep
Westport-based Graze online grocery delivery service is now bringing milk, artisanal cheeses, produce and meat from family operated farms in Vermont to the doorsteps in Fairfield County.
Westport resident Christy Colasurdo founded the company after noting the difficult and tedious search for food that was chemical-free and healthy to serve her children.
The company links the individuals to small family operated farms in Vermont and allows them to place online orders that arrive on their doorstep through its website GrazeDelivered.com.
The company is delivering in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Vermont.
The service also offers the ability to order ready-to-go chef-prepared meals.
