Wiggin and Dana returns home
Wiggin and Dana L.L.P. has returned to a former home in Stamford and leased 22,987 square feet for an 11-year term at 2 Stamford Plaza.
The law firm will relocate its Stamford offices from 400 Atlantic St. in May and take the entire seventh floor. Wiggin and Dana brings 31 attorneys and 17 general staff members to the Stamford Plaza, where it was a tenant in the 1990s.
Wiggin and Dana has five locations in the Northeast.
The new lease puts the Tresser Boulevard building at 96 percent occupancy. Part of a four-building complex, 2 Stamford Plaza is a 16-story, 251,500-square-foot office tower that shares an atrium with 1 Stamford Plaza.
Bankruptcy firm opens in Danbury
Andrew Balbus, a Danbury bankruptcy lawyer, has opened the Balbus Law Firm at 108 Mill Plain Road.
Balbus will represent individuals and businesses and advise them on the bankruptcy process.
Prior to founding the firm, Balbus earned a master”™s degree in bankruptcy law from St. John”™s University.
Pitney Bowes, Bug Labs develop platform
Bug Labs and Stamford-based Pitney Bowes have launched a new type of mobile device development platform.
BugSecure incorporates hardware-level security and security life-cycle management services designed to protect operating system and platform developers.
New York City-based Bug Labs is a hardware and software provider that helps companies prototype, pilot and produce networked devices, such as cell phones and tablets.
The new product seeks to offer companies a flexible platform with a high level of data protection and encryption. Current devices on the market rely on software-based security.
Pitney Bowes said the companies saw a need to eliminate common security risks and develop new devices to protect sensitive and valuable data.
Pitney Bowes holds thousands of patents worldwide in encryption, cellular-phone payment, shipping, laser printing, and mail production and processing.
