Herring Creek Capital Management L.L.C., a hedge fund specializing in long-short strategies, will set up shop at Malkin Properties’ Metro Center development adjacent to the Stamford Transportation Center after reaching a seven-year lease agreement.
The 7,314-square-foot lease was announced by Malkin Properties’ Jeffrey H. Newman, marketing and management agent for the eight-story, 285,000-square-foot building. Malkin was also represented by Kimberly Zaccagnino and Tara Long.
Herring Creek will occupy a portion of the fifth floor in early 2013, Malkin said. The firm was represented by George Walker of Jones Lang LaSalle.
Steve Galbraith, founder of Herring Creek, previously spent eight years at New York City hedge fund Maverick Capital Ltd. and before that was an investment strategist for Morgan Stanley. Herring Creek will manage a portfolio of several hundred million dollars in investment assets, according to a statement released by Malkin Properties.
