Employment in Connecticut”™s hospitality and leisure occupations remained steady between March and April at 136,000 jobs, up 1.6 percent from April 2007.
The Connecticut Department of Labor reported that hotel and food services gained 300 jobs in the past month, while entertainment and recreation lost 400 jobs.
The job figures do not include employment at Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino in eastern Connecticut, which are counted under government employment figures due to their ownership by federally recognized Indian tribes. MGM Grand opened a new hotel and casino at Foxwoods this month, which is expected to employ 3,000 people, and Mohegan Sun is also undergoing an expansion.
