IMS Health acquired Med-Vantage, a San Francisco-based company whose software is used to help health insurance plan members select doctors, help physicians collaborate and improve health care through the creation of patient scorecards assessing the care they receive.
The companies did not disclose financial terms. Med-Vantage was formed in 2001 by Informatics, a consortium of Blue Cross and Blue Shield licensees.
Norwalk-based IMS Health”™s primary business is collecting drug prescription information and creating benchmarking reports for use as a sales tool by the pharmaceutical industry.
Norwalk Hospital garners award
The Connecticut Hospital Association gave Norwalk Hospital its John D. Thompson Award recognizing its use of data in the delivery of health-care services.
Norwalk Hospital was recognized for “Moving Stroke Care from Good to Great” program, collecting data on eight core measures for stroke care. The hospital has since moved into the top 1 percent of hospitals nationally for best outcomes in stroke care.
Hospital group adds to leadership
Greenwich Hospital CEO Frank Corvino was nominated as an at-large executive committee member of the Connecticut Hospital Association.
Trustee nominees included Dr. John Murphy, president of the Western Connecticut Health Network that operates Danbury Hospital. Current board members include Susa Davis, CEO of St. Vincent”™s Medical Center in Bridgeport, and Brian Grissler, CEO of Stamford Hospital.
