General Electric Co. CEO Jeffrey Immelt and National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell today will announce a new initiative aimed at reducing concussions and improving player safety.
The announcement, which will take place this afternoon at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, will also feature National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) President Mark Emmert, New York Giants owner John Mara and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, among others.
As part of the initiative, the NFL and GE, the latter company based in Fairfield, will unveil a research and innovation program that will study the causes and effects of concussions.
