With Appliance Recycling Centers of America, Fairfield-based General Electric Co. said it now has recycled 100,000 refrigerators and freezers using a giant machine, diverting 5.5 million pounds of refuse from landfills.
The 40-foot tall unit operated by ARCA recovers 95 percent of the insulating foam in refrigerators, with most of it going into new products and the rest used as fuel in cement manufacturing. Steel recovered from recycled appliances at ARCA”™s Philadelphia recycling center is reused as steel deck bottom plates in new GE locomotives.
Roughly 9 million refrigerators are disposed of annually in the United States, and only a fraction of those have the insulating foam in their walls and doors recycled. While 90 percent of used refrigerators in the United States are shredded for their metal, the remaining foam and other materials typically go to a landfill.
parhar67 — thats due to devs were lazy. These games you mention were made on the 360 the start, and “PORTED” to all your ps3. If a game is established on PS3 and ported throughout the 360 it works better and several devs are now doing this. But if a game is created exclusivley for the playstation 3 like MGS4, Killzone2, resistance2, ratchet and clank, god of war 3, warhawk, uncharted, heavenly sword, etc…. than they shine and browse better than any latter console games. And about fallout, M$ had a manage them… they were the pave act at micorsoft e3, a multiplat because ms realized they can’t make good games by way of themselves(proof they killed off all 1st party except 2 devs, Sony has 20+ 1st/2nd just a few devs)…. Bethesda could of made Fallout 3 look better nevertheless ps3, just like Obilvion looked and played better on ps3 than 360 (same engine) whilst they rushed the ps3 version, didn’t even put memorabilia in til after and no dlc as per the load of cash distributed by the ms bribe. Devs can make excellent ps3 games, when they make it for your ps3, or they take you time to improove the port. Don’t believe me? look at eternal sonata, oblivion, Dead space, and burnout paradise for many people games that are fancier multiplatform games on about the ps3.
