Law firm Anderson Kill and Olick has opened an office in Stamford.
The office makes it number six for the New York City-based firm, which specializes in corporate insurance recovery. Anderson Kill and Olick also has locations in Washington, D.C., Ventura, Calif., Newark, N.J.. and Philadelphia.
“We see tremendous opportunity in Connecticut, particularly on the insurance recovery front, where law firms have largely left the field to the insurance industry,” said Charles Lee, managing partner of the Stamford office. “At the same time, we will have a robust corporate capability and will be able to offer clients a full suite of legal services.”
Lee said the office at 1055 Washington Boulevard plans to concentrate the practice in commercial litigation and insurance recovery exclusively on behalf of corporate policyholders in Connecticut.
“Anderson Kill long has successfully represented policyholders in Connecticut, securing for them significant insurance recoveries and helping them with business problems, so our Connecticut office will be building from a strong foundation,” said Robert M. Horkovich, managing partner.
Horkovich said the firm has had a growing portfolio of Connecticut and particularly Fairfield County-based clients over the past five years.
The new office is the former location of oil energy provider Statoil, which moved to 120 Long Ridge Road earlier this month. Statoil subleased 56,000 square feet at the Long Ridge Road location for 10 years, occupying a portion of the second floor and the entire third floor in the east wing of the office building, which is between Cross and Spring roads.
“Charlie in particular is a star in insurance recovery and also is a versatile litigator with strong roots in the Connecticut legal community,” Horkovich said. “We are looking forward to helping more clients in New England across a broad range of legal matters.”
The law firm plans to bring other senior staff members from New York City to Stamford.
