Educational-reference book publisher Greenwood Press reportedly is shutting its Westport office at a cost of 150 jobs.
Last December, Boston-based Houghton Mifflin Harcourt acquired Greenwood Press and several sister companies from Reed Elsevier plc, a British publisher that has its U.S. headquarters in New York City.
Last month Harcourt sold a perpetual license to ABC-CLIO of Santa Barbara, Calif., to publish Greenwood titles, which as first reported by Publishers Weekly will result in the closure of the Westport office at 88 Post Road West.
An ABC-CLIO spokesman told WestportNow some employees may be offered the opportunity to apply for jobs at an unspecified East Coast location.
