Fairfield University’s 64th commencement is May 18 on the campus in Fairfield.
This year”™s speakers are Sharon M.K. Kugler, university chaplain, Yale University, who will address the undergraduates, and Mary Ann Christopher, Fairfield class of 1979, president and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, who will speak at the graduate ceremony.
The 2014 commencement is on Bellarmine Lawn and begins at 9:30 a.m. with the undergraduate ceremony, followed at 3 p.m. by the graduate ceremony.
The number of expected degrees is 897 bachelor”™s, 354 master”™s, 14 certificates of advanced study and 29 doctorates.
Honorary degrees will be awarded to both speakers and to three other recipients: Sister Elizabeth A. Johnson, distinguished professor of theology at Fordham University; the Rev. John W. Padberg, director of the Institute of Jesuit Sources in St. Louis; and John S. Santa, CEO of Bridgeport-based Santa Energy.
Fairfield University has more than 5,000 graduate and undergraduate students.
Tickets will be required for entry. In case of severe weather, the ceremonies will be held in Alumni Hall.
