The Fairfield Public Library announced that 201 people who participated in its jobs program since 2012 have reported they have found employment.
The library estimates that number to be even larger if accounting for people who haven”™t reported or who participated in the program before records were being kept.
The jobs program offers talks, one-on-one counseling, a Job Search Boot Camp and a LinkedIn page. The library developed the program in 2009.
The library credited career counselor Ann Wright with much of the success. Wright has provided one-on-one, 20-minute career counseling sessions and the boot camp at the library since the spring of 2011.
“We are so proud to be a part of supporting people who are in need of employment,” said Town Librarian Karen Ronald. “Connecting people with great resources ”“ including Ann Wright ”“ is one of the most satisfying things librarians do and do well. In a small way we are also helping economic development in our community. People who get jobs can continue to live, shop and invest in so many ways in Fairfield.”
