FAIRFIELD — First Selectman Bill Gerber underwent a successful follow-up surgical procedure related to last week’s surgery to remove a brain tumor, according to a Town of Fairfield spokesperson.
“His medical team is pleased with the outcome,” said Lisa Clair, Fairfield communications director. “The process of recovery from this type of surgery is complex. He is continuing to rest and recover at Yale New Haven Hospital.”
With the need to rest, his family has requested no visitors for the time being.
Fellow Democrat Selectman Christine Vitale continues to fill in as acting first selectman as Gerber recovers.
The Gerber family said it is so grateful for the many well wishes sent to Bill and will continue to provide periodic updates.
