Cancer center earns award
Stamford Hospital”™s Bennett Cancer Center has received the 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award presented by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Stamford Hospital is the only hospital in the state and one of only four hospitals in New England to receive the honor this year.
The award recognizes cancer programs that provide quality care; motivate other programs; facilitate dialogue between facilities for the purpose of sharing best practices; and encourage honorees to serve as quality-care resources to other programs.
Hwang wins award
State Rep. Tony Hwang received the 2014 AT&T Regional IMPACT Legislator Award June 3 at the Bridgeport Regional Business Council”™s annual meeting, which honors the award winners and features the region”™s key economic development projects.
Hwang has been a voice for building a bioscience industry and was recognized for his legislative record advocating for expanding the state”™s job creation efforts and trying to foster relationships between the private and public business sectors.
Westporters shepherd Milford deal
Bill Clark, senior vice president at The Geenty Group and agent for the landlords Louis & John D”™Amato, reports the lease of a 2,600-square-foot free-standing industrial unit on Higgins Drive, Milford, on a third of an acre. Scott Zakos of Vidal Wettenstein in Westport was the agent for the tenant Power and Network Solutions L.L.C. Tenants Charles Kelley IV and Chris Miniter will use the building for their electrical contracting business covering general office needs and storage of equipment relating to their use.
Simson and Fellah notch sale
Westport-based HK Group”™s Bill Simson, vice president, and Franco Fellah, executive vice president, have finalized the sale of the property at 950 Post Road East, Westport, for $3.75 million. HK Group represented the buyer, Darien-based Forstone Capital L.L.C., while Tim Gibbons of national-scope First Street Inc. represented the seller, Humble Westport L.L.C. The 6,843-square-foot building is currently leased to Men”™s Wearhouse Inc. and sits on a 0.64-acre lot.
A taste of fundraising
The Danbury-based Shelter Rock Winemaking Club, billed as Fairfield County”™s first urban winery, recently held a fundraising event with the regional Habitat for Humanity at the winery, 5 Shelter Rock Road. “The area”™s first wine-making club” assists nonprofits and community organizations by offering complimentary wine tastings.

The legal directory “Chambers USA: America”™s Leading Lawyers for Business,” has recognized Robinson+Cole, a Northeast-region law firm with an office in Stamford, in all the practice areas that the directory covers in Connecticut, including corporate/M&A, environment, health care, labor and employment, litigation, general commercial and real estate, in its 2014 edition and also individually recognized 21 of the firm”™s lawyers.

Rosenberg honored
Dr. Larry M. Rosenberg was honored June 5 for his 27 years as the clinical director for Stamford-based Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, a mental health service, and for his contributions to clinical excellence in the region and state at The Loft on Washington Street in Norwalk. Rosenberg also sits on the board of the Stamford-based and mental health-themed Laurel House.
Liberty Bank sponsors K9s for Warriors program
The Travelers Championship PGA golf tournament June 19-22 in Cromwell has announced a new military-appreciation initiative at this year”™s tournament. With the support of Liberty Bank, which maintains a 50-branch in-state presence north and west of Fairfield County, the K9s for Warriors program will provide a service dog to a veteran to help him or her cope with post-traumatic stress disorder. The program provides rescued dogs from shelters that are trained to be service canines. The dogs provide medically proven recovery aid for those suffering from this disease.
Wagner earns cross-border kudos
Andrea Wagner of Danbury-based Wagner Web Designs Inc. received the Chairman”™s Award at the 16th annual Yorktown (N.Y.) Chamber of Commerce Dinner Dance at Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., last month.
Webster Private Bank expands team
Webster Private Bank, the wealth management division of Waterbury-based Webster Bank, has added two senior portfolio managers to its investment team.
Edward T. Wilson has joined Webster from Wells Fargo Bank where he served as senior vice president, investments. He will be based at Webster Private Bank”™s Stamford office.
