Diageo retains Miami-based distributor
Norwalk-based Diageo North America has retained Southern Wine and Spirits of America Inc. as its new national broker for wine and spirits in 18 control states.
Diageo, an international spirits, wine and beer company, said it brought on the Miami-based distributor as part of its marketing strategy.
“I am excited about our new national relationship with Southern Wine & Spirits, which begins the next phase of Diageo”™s route to market strategy and is a key step toward driving a national sales force approach with our distributors and brokers in North America,” said Larry Schwartz, president of Diageo USA, in a statement.
Southern will provide coverage for Diageo spirits brands in Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.
The new agreements will go into effect July 1 or Aug. 1, depending on the state. As a result of the agreement in Pennsylvania, Diageo will move from self-representing its brands there to a brokerage for wine and spirits.
Delamar upgrades technology
The Delamar Hotel in Greenwich has signed a five-year agreement to install Roomlinx iTV Platform 3.0 into its 82-room harbor-front property.
The TVs combine high definition, internet, computer and video on demand functionalities. They are currently not on sale to the public and are produced exclusively for hotels, resorts and other properties.
Baldwin sells dry food
Shelton-based Baldwin Technology has sold its affiliate Addison, Ill.-based Oxy-Dry Food Blends to CPC Dry Pack Inc. of Chicago.
The financial terms were not disclosed.
Baldwin Technology supplies process automation equipment for the packaging industry.
Under the terms of the transaction, Baldwin has transferred its lease obligation to CPC Dry Pack, a contract manufacturing firm.
Greenwich company creates shipping reference
Greenwich-based Heidenreich Innovations has launched a web-based information system for the shipping industry.
Heidenreich Innovations, which has websites that serve the tanker and dry-bulk shipping industries, created Milbros Commodity Information System at Milbros.com as a web-based library of some 10,000 commodities for the maritime shipping industry.
The website also has information on all the International Maritime Organization-evaluated cleaning chemicals and cleaning procedures for all commodities.
Community celebrates award
Summerview Square, a townhouse community in Norwalk, has received the “Community of the Year” award from the Home Builders Association of Connecticut.
The owners recently opened the second phase of the 63-unit apartment and rental townhouse community. Currently, 13 units in the first phase are fully occupied and the second phase will offer eight units for lease.
Prudential goes viral
Prudential Connecticut Realty has designed a program for customers to use with their smartphones.
The sign rider quick response code and texting program are to be placed on property signs throughout the state, according to company President Candace Adams. The coded signs will be hung on existing yard signs and will also contain a text message code allowing potential buyers to access a property”™s webpage listing and get basic information through text messages.
