Stamford-based Campus Televideo, a provider of custom cable TV, residential network (commonly called ResNet) data and other telecommunications services to more than 240 colleges and universities, has teamed with Rave Alert from Massachusetts-based Rave Mobile Safety to deliver emergency notifications through on-campus cable TV emergency alert systems.
Campus Televideo, founded in 1984, and Rave Mobile Safety report they have already successfully deployed the program in cooperation with Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts.
The program benefits campus safety by allowing authorities to enter a message through one platform and have it delivered consistently across multiple devices, including television.
Prior to this program, Campus Televideo reported, EAS messaging to televisions required accessing a separate platform, creating potential woes with delivery time and consistency.
The TV notices will rely upon federal “common alerting protocol.”
“The goal of any EAS system is to quickly deliver a consistent message to as many touch points as possible, and the integration of television into our customers”™ existing EAS platforms accomplishes this goal,” said Jon Stewart, senior director for business operations, Campus Televideo. “We thank our customer, Fitchburg State University, for their participation and look forward to working with an industry leader like Rave Mobile Safety as we implement this service with our mutual customers across the country.”
“Integrating the EAS and RAVE systems allows us to deliver emergency messages to student TVs and campus bulletin boards in a quick, efficient manner,” said Jamie Roger, director, auxiliary services, Fitchburg State. “No one wants to add additional steps and time during a time of an emergency.”
